Kling Klang album

I've recently been getting into the releases of Mogwai's record label, Rock Action. Anyway, there is this band from Liverpool called Kling Klang and they sound a bit like Goblin and Kraftwerk mashed together. That's pretty lazy comparisons for you, but with a name like Kling Klang, you should expect some Kraftwerk references. Anyway, to the point. Their album is being released in November and I can't wait to hear it. I think their might be a tour as well for it, which should be good. These guys are noisy!

I wasn't sure what to expect, but the show is rocking and full of surprises. It's not just a guy plaiyng the guitar. Seriously!

Pablo from the Psychonauts has been in the studio with UNKLE on this remix, so let's hope it isn't as dull as their recent remixes.

It seems like the Silver Apples will be releasing a new album later this year. The vinyl will be released through Bully Records. This should be interesting. In case you didn't know, the SIlver Apples were a two piece group from New York in the late 60s. They consisted of a drummer and a bank of oscillators making some of the craziest music ever to be heard. It still sounds fresh and exciting today and has been a big influence on people like LCD Soundsystem, UNKLE, the Chicken Lips and loads more.

Well DFA records have been pretty quiet recently, apart from the DFA remixes compilation that came out. Check out the latest release by Shit Robot. It's banging mad techno track on one side and the b-side reminds me a bit of the Emperor Machine, but different. Well worth checking out. Also, watch out for the Carl Craig remix of Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom - Revelee. It's banging!

Douglas Coupland has written a kind of follow up to Microserfs. This one is about webdevelopers in the present day, as opposed to Microsoft defectors and is called jPod. It's out in June in the UK and looks interesting. Hopefully it has been written a journal style as opposed to his recent writing styles.

I love records that use speak and spells! There is a new 12" out on Dalriada records by some people called Sleepless Crew and it is a wicked little acid house number. It's got some wicked synths in it as well. The b-sides are ok, but the a-side is the bomb. Seek it out if you can. Piccadilly Records in Manchester were selling it and so is Rubadub in Glasgow.

For years I have always enjoyed the skewed sounds of Cherrystones. I think he has only reelased a few 12"s and a couple of 7"s, but he has done some good remixes. I picked up on him as he gets a mention on the Seraph - Musical Messenger sleeve. Anyway, I will get to the point. He has been signed to Poptones after being on Twisted Nerve for a while. They have had some excellent guests as well. I've been listening to some of the archived interviews recently. Bjork, PJ Harvey and they also have a live performance by Jamie Lidell.

Ages ago I read about a mad little record label that were producing little cds of mad library music. Sumoboy had told me about this and I couldn't remember and it was really bugging me, so I emailed him and he told me the name of the label and the website. Well, it's Ghost Box and check out their site. They have been getting too busy recently, as they used to just burn the cds in house, but it appears they are getting them manufactured now. I am going to check them out as soon as the cds come back online.

I have a stupid obsession with the film Wildstyle, seriously, I do. I just can't watch it enough. i must know it inside out. It is pretty ropey, but at the same time it is dead exciting. It truly documented the hip hop scene of NYC in the early 80s. I love the soundtrack as well.
